After a Sunday morning junior and mini training session Billy Twelvetrees (Gloucester RFC) officially opened Fairford RFC’s new junior pitches on Leafield Road, taking a ‘few’ attempts to get the ball between the posts! It was a busy day as the club was awarded full RFU accreditation which was presented by Simon Collyer-Bristow (Gloucestershire RFU) to club chairman ‘Beamer’ (Jonathan Chambers). The Ernest Cook Trust was thanked for permitting the land to be used as the junior rugby pitches. The pitches are in great condition, a remarkable achievement considering it was a cow field less than 18 months ago. The result was a fantastic family day (despite the showers) with a positive turnout resulting in a growing membership as the club starts the 2016/17 season.
